So the first-ever sky-high event on the Isle of Wight has come to an end.
We have been thrilled to be working on this event with the fantastic team from Robin Hill Park on the isle of wight. From December last year when the initial concept was raised through to the test flights and the event itself. The excitement on the island for its first-ever mass participation balloon event has grown.
The weather wasn’t exactly on our side with no free-flying during the event, however, this didn’t hamper our balloon teams who ensure there was plenty of balloon activity throughout the 4 days for the public to see. From tethering balloons to our all-new meet the pilot sessions and walk-in balloon. Plus our fantastic model balloon displays. Engagement and education was the theme of the event with Thousands of people meeting pilots and crews to ask lots of questions about balloons.
We managed to host 2 full night glows and a basket glow, with one of the images gaining a huge print in the Telegraph. We also managed to tether 9 balloons for ITV news on Tuesday 28th which had over 8 minutes of the on-air broadcast, plus features across the whole day’s news bulletins.
The event saw 2 of the highest visitor numbers at the park EVER! an uplift of nearly 50% from previous records.
Bloon have devised an event model that is easily translatable to almost any location, so if you would like to host your own balloon festival, speak to a Bloonist today!
